Got Seedlings? It's time to return native plant seed-starting kits!

It's time to return native plant seed-starting kits!

Did you grab a seed-starting kit from a little free cabinet in the Midway or Frogtown neighborhoods and sow the native seeds included?  These kits were designed to grow plants for our community including spaces along “The Bee Line” (aka Pierce Butler Route). The Bee Line project is collecting surplus plants from kits for transplanting into these community spaces. Volunteers from the Seedling Corps will nurture them until fall when community members will be invited to help plant at events at Pierce Butler Meadow, Monarch City and other public spaces.

Let us know that your kit is ready for pickup

If your kit is sprouting seedlings, feel free to transplant a couple into a separate pot for your own space. The Bee Line will take back any kit seedlings that you won’t use. Let us know your kit is ready for pick up and where it is located and The Bee Line folks will collect the surplus plants. To return native plants that have sprouted contact:

About this project

The native plant seed starting kits are a part of The Bee Line project. Sponsored in part by Hamline Midway Coalition, Frogtown Green, Lawns to Legumes, the MnSEED project (supported by Capitol Region Watershed District, The Minnesota State Horticultural Society and Como Community Seed Library), and by community members across St Paul near the neighborhoods of Hamline Midway & Frogtown. These communities extend a thank you for all the contributors to the local movement to restore native plants and pollinators along The Bee Line. Our collective actions will make a big impact on the local environment surrounding county-owned Pierce Butler Route.
